UX colleagues from Europe are coming to DC and they'd like to know what DC has to offer in UX. What a great question!
I'm hoping I could put something together that will be interesting and will show how DC does UX. :)
I can point them to events in town, research labs to visit, and maybe some specific areas in DC to visit.
I know the University of Maryland has a UX research lab but I'm not up what else is available to visit.
Any thoughts on where I might start?
Thanks sooo much for your help…

New to the group by virtue of the upcoming event, but it just so happens my department is looking for an IA resource. Freelance is probably ideal for the moment considering our group's setup. However, I'd be interested in hearing from any experienced folks on the market. Shoot me an email to kpowers@grafik.com if this sounds interesting to ya.
Thanks!

I've created a small survey to gather information on the percentage of email that, does not pertain to you, you don't need to respond to, is imperative you respond to, etc.…

@Armano tweeted this today, from
kip/bot/blog
From a NY Times article about Jon Stewart’s status as one of the most trusted journalists in America, a nice quote from Stephen Colbert about the craft of satire. It can apply to so many things where you are looking at the difference between amusing and brilliant, mockery and satire, good and great:
“We often discuss satire — the sort of thing he does and to a certain extent I do — as distillery,” Mr. Col…

"It´s here; a new edition of the (in)famous
Bad Usability Calendar. The past three calendars have all been successful in distributing examples of bad design around the world. Check out fresh examples of exaggerated use of fancy Web 2.0 design, cover flow, personalization, pull-down menus and more..."
I love the Web 2.0 design.

Note: I wrote this about writing, and influences, but it could just as easily be read in the context of our craft, which is interaction design. Replace books with designs, and authors with designers, and the sentiment and argument remain the same. I hope someone finds it interesting.]
